Punk Show Night with Basic Bitches, Tiger Piss, & GSX
Step into Unicorn Bar on Thursday, November 20th, for a night of live punk music, presented by DCxPC Live! Bands Tiger Piss, Basic Bitches, & GSX will drawing us into a world of their own with electricity & blazing lyricism!
Formed in the good old days of 2007 in New Paltz NY, Tiger Piss is back (and at least as good as ever), after a long hiatus spent focusing on their other music projects Red Neckromancer, Lara Hope & The Ark-Tones, and scoring piano music for films. This Kingston punk n’ roll power trio has returned with a penchant for mayhem and loud rock, and are so happy to be back playing music from their 4 studio albums, and writing new angular, frenetic, and catchy tunes for the modern era. Drawing inspiration from their varied influences ranging from 80s hair metal, to riot grrrl, to classical, to showtunes and more, Tiger Piss is here to get weird with you!
GSX was founded by award-winning and critically acclaimed performer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Sarah Greenwood, a queer Brit-Swiss transplant. SG formed her first band and wrote her first songs at age thirteen. SG’s music obsession led her from her native Switzerland to Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she received multiple songwriting awards and praise from the press.
The current GSX line-up includes seasoned pros: John Andrews (B-52’s, Peter Murphy, Nena), Alec
Morton (Raging Slab, Monster Magnet), and Jeff Gretz (ZAO, From Autumn to Ashes). The Boston Phoenix wrote: “Greenwood has a knack for transforming pain and anger into edgy songs which alternately smolder and blaze with the eloquently pissed off attitude of Chrissie Hynde. Her lyrics are reminiscent of Lou Reed and Patti Smith.” Reviewing the band’s performance, the Boston Herald wrote: “sounds like PJ Harvey without the overblown angst.”
