Celebrating Silent Film Pioneer Helen Holmes
Helen Holmes – also known as “The Railroad Girl”. Helen Holmes was the first motion picture action adventure star. She specialized in daredevil stunts involving trains; hence her nickname. As the daughter of a railroad engineer, Helen created “The Hazards of Helen” a serialized action adventure drama about Helen, a very capable railroad telegrapher who, in every installment, saves the day. Shirley Freitas, Great-Granddaughter of Helen will also be there to comment on her Great-Grandmother and her films. Live accompaniment by Marta Waterman.
