Art Show Opening: Phantasmagoria

The work of four artists who are members of our Hudson Valley LGBTQ community will be proudly displayed in “Phantasmagoria,” our spring exhibit. Defined as “real or imaginary images like those seen in a dream,” the dreamscapes of our “Phantasmagoria” artists encompass watercolor, collage, oil and acrylic mediums. Additionally, these artists define themselves as transgender, queer or two-spirit. Sometimes boldly shocking in their representations, other times simply sweet or ethereal, each artist’s work presents their fundamental struggles with and/or embracing of the morphing of their own lives and fantasies. To follow them in their own self-discovery can be delightful, expansive and disturbing, and something we otherwise probably might not do.

We celebrate Pride this year by deeply appreciating each other’s unique journeys of self-discovery. Come join us at the Community Center and take in “Phantasmagoria,” running April 20th through June 15th.
