Cheek Rebuild Workshop

A two-day cheek rebuild provides you with a first hands-on exposure to this fundamental walling skill. Working with a partner, you dismantle and rebuild a free standing vertical wall end on a freestanding wall about 54 inches tall. You grade and sort stone in preparation for a build. You set up batter frames and stringlines. You learn to plan ahead in order to use each stone to its maximum value. By the end of day two, you and your partner will have built a structurally stable cheek end. Without doubt, you will each take home skills to leverage in many features you might build in the future.

A Cheek Rebuild workshop is a must for all of you walling professionally. DSWA Level 2 Waller Certification is the global standard for professional dry stone walling, the level at which you can feel confident offering your services. Your clientele knows they can count on your expertise. As for you people with projects, you will also want to know what to do when your wall comes to an end! If you are considering becoming a teacher of dry stone walling, please also come to learn to build a cheek. The skills you learn building a vertical wall end help you accommodate arches, lunkeys, stiles, and other structures you may wish to build into your walls.

The Cheek Rebuild workshop runs simultaneously with the Two-Day Introduction to Dry Stone Walling. You will be building the wall end while beginning wallers build the faces. On site, you can expect anywhere from twelve to sixteen beginners and up to six cheek rebuilders. What a great way to experience time on the wall!

Come learn from certified waller-teachers, most of whom earn their livelihoods as dry stone walling professionals. All Stone Trust instructors have achieved DSWA Level 2 Waller Certification, globally recognized as the professional standard. As Stone Trust-DSWA-certified instructors, all belong to a learning community that seeks to ensure that every one of you learns what you came for and that you enjoy the process. With a student : instructor ratio of 8 : 1, you can count on plenty of direct interaction with your teachers.
