This Friday is opening night for The Meet Market – the first in our series of monthly pop-up gay bar nights.
Part lounge, part cabaret and part gay bar, we at Big Gay Hudson Valley are excited about this new chance for the community to connect in person while enjoying some locally sourced live entertainment. Dubbed our Daily Special, this month’s entertainment lineup features Beacon-based acoustic musician, Mike Hamel, and the vaudeville-meets-burlesque-meets-variety-show antics of NYC’s The Great Dane + Neo.
Mike Hamel
Based out of Beacon, NY, Mike has earned his stripes spending close to a decade playing in a variety of projects. Doing so has earned him a faithful following in fans spanning all genres. Lately, Mike splits his time between his original work and several other musical ventures. Even a quick look at his Facebook page will give you a glimpse into the projects he is involved in. You can read more about Mike on his website.
The Great Dane + Neo
Dane and Neo’s story began as performers together in NYC. From burlesquing at nightclubs to party motivating at Bah Mitzvahs, dancing for the queens of Rupaul’s Drag Race to now headlining a meat market variety show, they find a way to wow the crowds. You may also spot them playing double tennis, ping pong, paddle ball or any other sport with rackets and balls. Using health and wellbeing as inspiration, Dane and Neo work as trainers in Manhattan combining different fitness disciplines like yoga, boxing, and gymnastics. With NYU theater degrees, level 1 Zumba certifications, and a dose of life experience, this ambiguously talented duo is sure to present a show no audience will forget, even if they try.
