TheDragDirectory.com, the first site of its kind for gender illusionists to promote their personas, has officially been launched! The site, which features local and national drag queens, is based in Poughkeepsie and will allow visitors to discover and interact with drag talent in a new way.
Drag queens and performers are strongly suggested to submit their biographies, pictures, videos, appearance schedules, and social media links for inclusion on the site. The project is being organized by local gay resident Jimmy Prada.
“The tri-state area has some really awesome talent that is just waiting to be discovered,” explains Jimmy Prada, co-founder and Director of Marketing of TheDragDirectory.com. “Our site will bring local drag talent to metro markets without waiting for a big break on YouTube.” While The Drag Directory.com will initially cover the Hudson Valley region down to New York City, other areas that will eventually be covered include Albany, NY and Hartford, CT.
Drag queens can submit their promotional materials for publication by visiting TheDragDirectory.com. In the coming weeks, registered talent will be able to sign in and edit their submissions.
TheDragDirectory.com was founded in January and will be completely advertiser supported. The concept for the website started when the Poughkeepsie-based Prada and Hilton discovered Shequida Hall – a drag performer and opera singer with a 5-octave range – in a New York City bar. “We realized that there’s some major talent waiting to be discovered,” said Prada. “Hopefully, our website can bring queens to places they’ve never been before.”
