SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION: A Staged Reading

Maude Adams Theater Hub and Catskill Mountain Foundation present a staged reading of John Guare’s SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION on Wednesday, February 11th at 7pm and Saturday, February 14th at 2pm.

Wealthy art dealers Flan and Ouisa Kittredge are entertaining a friend at their Fifth Avenue apartment when they are intruded upon by a bleeding young man. He’s just been mugged, or so he tells them; he’s a friend of their children; and, as it happens, he is also the son of Hollywood legend Sidney Poitier.

Utterly charmed, they invite him to stay the night — but with the dawn comes stark reality, as Flan and Ouisa are confronted by the truth, not only about their young guest, but about their entire two-sided world.

This outrageous, provocative comedy tackles the intersection of race, class, and sexuality in late ’80s New York City. It’s just as urgent today as it was when it was first produced thirty-five years ago.

Directed by Ben Rendich.
