QMob Garden Tour – Saturday- June 14th
The group will meet at the simple, beautiful garden of David Gallager in Hillsdale for coffee and and informal walk-around of his ¾ acre landscape and flower garden. We will then travel approximately 35 minutes through pastoral countryside to Wetthersfield Estate and Gardens in Dutchess County. This not too well-known garden, in the middle of a 1000 acre estate was established by Chauncey Stillman, an equestrian, collector and philanthropist, soon after assembling various farm properties in the late 1930s. This is mainly a Classical Italian style garden of formal layout and with various statuary, in a very special hilltop setting with views over the surrounding farmland. This will be followed by an optional group lunch at a nearby restaurant where we will chat about the day and gardens.
IMPORTANT: Admission to the Wethersfield grounds is $15 per person, $10 for seniors.
