Beacon LitFest 2024
Get inspired! The Second Annual Beacon LitFest (BLF) is a three day celebration of the literary arts, including readings, performances, workshops, parties, and much more! Join on one, two or all three days at the Howland Cultural Center Jun 7, 8, 9!
We begin with a kickoff party on Fri Jun 7, 7 to 9 pm at the Howland Cultural Center that offers refreshments, music, and unique improvisational performances by The Core Improv group riffing on work by select local authors. On Sat Jun 8, 1-6pm the Main program brings major literary voices to the Hudson Valley. Hear from Pulitzer Prize- winner Jennifer Egan; Jode Millman, Esq., local author of the acclaimed “Queen City Crime Series;” Amitava Kumar, PhD, award-winning essayist and novelist; bestselling memoirist Abigail Thomas; and poets Edwin Torres, winner of American Book Award; Timothy Liu (Lui Ti Mo), editor of An Anthology of Gay American Poetry and winner of PEN Open Book Margins Award; Tina Cane, past Poet Laureate of Rhode Island. BLF also welcomes David Herskovits, multiple OBIE award-winner and founding Artistic Director of Target Margin Theater in NYC. All followed by a free cocktail meet and greet. On Sunday June 9, 10-4pm the LitFest will host three individual live writing workshops led by notable local writers.
