AS YOU LIKE IT presented by Catskill Mountain Shakespeare

Join us outdoors and under the tent for our 2023 Summer Season with Shakespeare’s comedy As You Like It. Follow two of Shakespeare’s most enchanting heroines, Rosalind and Celia, as they escape the austere world of the court in search of freedom in the Forest of Arden. Once there, they are swiftly entangled in a comedy of romance, disguise, and friendship. This beloved play asks us some of life’s greatest questions and is full of love, laughter, and some of Shakespeare’s most beautiful language (“All the world’s a stage…”). A comedy for all ages — both accessible and relatable — AYLI explores what it means to love, make a fool of yourself, and rebel against ‘The Man’.

A diverse cast of 13 actors from the Hudson Valley and across the country will play guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, percussion, and sing songs by David Bowie, The Cure, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, and more!

As You Like It, directed by Sydney Berk and in association with The Catskill Mountain Foundation, runs July 15 – 30 behind The Red Barn at 7970 Main Street in Hunter, NY; 7:30pm Evenings / 2:00pm Matinees. Tickets are $35 Adults / $20 Students & Seniors. Need based discounts are available.

Our season also includes a Pay What You Can Performance (7/14), a Community Book Club (7/16), the 2nd Annual LGBTQ+ Midsummer Social (7/21), an Artist Mixer & Talkback (7/23), a ‘Relaxed’ performance geared towards families with free tent-side childcare (7/29), free theatrical workshops for kids and teens taught by artistic professionals (7/22 & 7/27), and pop-up arts and crafts activities at local farmers’ markets.
