All of Us Strangers

Adam (Andrew Scott) and Harry (Paul Mescal), the sole inhabitants of a large, brand-new apartment building, meet one night after a fire alarm echoes through the halls. Adam is a struggling screenwriter, and this encounter sends him back to his hometown, where he finds his parents (Jamie Bell and Claire Foy) preserved at the age they were when he saw them last. Is this a ghost story, or a dream, or something else? Andrew Haigh (45 Years) has created a quietly expressive and affecting story, plunging us into the sensuous pleasures of an intoxicating world, one caught between memory and the present. (dir. Andrew Haigh, UK, 2023, 105 m)

“The entire journey is based in a kind of emotional intuition, and as such, no two viewers will experience it the same way…The film offers a kind of connection that’s all too rare, and maybe even impossible.” —Variety
