A Retreat for GBTQ Christian Men — Easton Mountain

A Retreat for GBTQ Christian Men

For many of us who grew up in Christian communities, discovering our sexuality was not easy. The messages we received from churches, families, and schools often created confusion, conflict, shame.

For many gay men, especially those from earlier generations, reconciling faith and sexuality became a long and difficult journey.

Over time, things have begun to change. Some younger people who identify as queer have found more welcoming and affirming Christian communities. Still, the process of integrating faith, identity, and community remains deeply personal and sometimes challenging.

This retreat invites gay and queer Christian men to gather in a multi-generational community for reflection, connection and celebration. Together we will explore our spiritual journeys, share stories, and create space for prayer, liturgy, conversation and meaningful connection.

The experience of gay and queer Christian men varies widely from one community to another. The journey of a gay Catholic differs from that of an Episcopalian, or Southern Baptist. This retreat welcomes people from many Christian backgrounds as we create space to share and reflect on those experiences.

Just like our other retreats, this experience will include the gifts of this beautiful land and the rhythms of life on the mountain. Participants can enjoy time outdoors on the trails and in the surrounding woods, shared meals around the table, engaging workshops and conversations, opportunities to sing and dance, time in the sauna, gatherings in the temple, and the laughter and celebration that unfold over a weekend together at Easton Mountain.

A Sample Day…

We're currently building the full schedule for Come to the Mountain. To give you a sense of the rhythm and experience, here's what a typical day at Easton Mountain might feel like:

  • Early Morning – Begin your day with yoga, meditation, prayer, or quiet reflection in nature, either on your own or in community.

  • Breakfast – Enjoy a nourishing breakfast shared with others.

  • Mid-Morning – Participate in workshops designed to inspire reflection, connection, and personal growth.

  • Lunch – Gather for a hearty, communal meal.

  • Afternoon – Choose your own pace with offerings such as creative workshops, embodied practices, nature walks, swimming, or time for rest and contemplation.

  • Dinner – Come together again to share a meal and connect.

  • Evening – Join in shared experiences such as fire circles, music, storytelling, talent showcases, dance parties, or time for group reflection and prayer.

  • Late Night – Wind down in ways that feel restful and supportive, whether through quiet conversation, time in the sauna, or stargazing.
