As the temps begin to cool, we’re craving the scents of hot cider donuts, damp autumn leaves and crisp Hudson Valley evenings. If you’re like most, you’re planning a road trip to enjoy a weekend amongst the apple trees and the rolling hillsides along the Hudson. Whether you’re thinking about exploring some of our quaint towns like Kingston, Hudson, Beacon or New Paltz, there’s lots of apple picking, pumpkins and queer events to enjoy throughout the area. If you’re looking for some inspiration around which to build your trip, mark your calendar for these upcoming autumn adventures.

September 23: Meet Market Night Out @ Benmarl Winery

Benmarl Winery in Marlboro will host the Hudson Valley’s queer community for an edition of the Meet Market on Thursday, September 23. With facilities both indoors and out Benmarl will be offering wines, beer, and other libations along with fresh pizzas and more from their café.

Offering stunning views of the Hudson River, Benmarl is the oldest winery in America, and we’re so excited to host our first-ever event at this beautiful winery this fall.

October 1 + 2: Paige Turner’s “Joyride”

You may know her from Provincetown or NYC, and now you can see drag legend Paige Turner live here in the Hudson Valley when she visits the area for a very special three city tour. Described as a showbiz spitfire, her comedy is just what we need after a rough 18 months. Happening October 1 + 2, she will be appearing outdoors under a tent at the spectacular Benmarl Winery and indoors at the recently renovated Rosendale Theatre.

October 2: Stockade Faire

Uptown “Stockade” Kingston businesses and shops present the third annual community-driven street fair called StockadeFaire. Produced in part by many of the neighborhoods queer owned businesses, it’s happening on Wall Street between John & North Front + North Front Street between Wall & Crown Streets all day – with live bands, dancing in the street, an arts fair and so much more. Be sure to stop by some of our favorites like Hamilton & Adams, Exit 19, Petalos, Blue Cashew & Kingston Consignments.

October 8: Out On The Farm

By this point fall is in full swing, and the orchards are packed with apple-pickers so pack up the car with your friends and head up to Wilklow Orchards for Out on the Farm. This free family-friendly night out offers everything that your PSL-hungry heart has been waiting for all year.

October 8, 9 + 10: Field + Supply

Founded in 2014, this event is a modern makers craft fair that takes place twice a year along the Hutton Brickyards in Kingston. A sprawling complex focused on the combination of craft and community, this is the craft fair to see and be seen. While not exclusively a queer event, it’s definitely packed with design centric homos.

October 15, 16 + 17: BARNWOOD Queer Erotic Art Show + Sale

This Pop-Up Art Show + Sale is a few-times-a-year exhibition of queer drawings, photographs, paintings, ceramics and artwork of other mediums from dozens of artists based in New York’s Hudson Valley, New York City and beyond in the barn at a private home near Kingston. The show is dedicated to two things: Promoting the talents of the 30+ exhibiting artists and pricing their work affordably so that guests can bring them home. With more than 200 pieces on display, you’re certain to fall in love with at least three original works. The Friday night opening includes live performance and meet and greet sessions with the artists on Saturday afternoon. Advance ticket purchase required.

October 21: Queer Comedy Night @ Benmarl Winery

Queer Comedy returns to the Hudson Valley on Thursday night, October 22 when Sam Morrison, Jay McBride and Franqi French return to Benmarl Winery for a hilarious night of laughter outdoors along the Hudson River. Wine, wood-fired pizzas and striking views of the Hudson River will available.
