One of the most common questions we receive from new Hudson Valley residents is where can they go to meet others in the community. Sure, you can join any one of the various grids here in the area (Grindr, Scruff, Growlr, etc.) but we feel as though nothing beats making new friends in person.

During these COVID times in the middle of winter, meeting new friends out of doors isn’t easy. That said, our new favorite place to meet the ‘Homos in the neighborhood’ is your local consignment or salvage shop. Why’s that?  Let’s take a closer look:

  1. Lots of space to socially distance
  2. Most are heated well enough stay warm
  3. Packed with cute things for our homes
  4. If you’re moving here – you need cute things
  5. If you live here – you’re tired of looking at your older cute things after 10 months of quarantine
  6. You’ll likely find something to take home with you.
  7. You don’t need to scream over the loud music
  8. We can all see each other’s faces
  9. They’re chock full of queer community!

Here’s a list of some of our favorite vintage & consignment shops in which to cruise – er, explore.
