BGHV’s upcoming Show Your Love Ball (Sat Feb 14th) – in addition to being a night full of great local food, wine and beer – will showcase the amazing local talent of the Half Moon Theatre. This Poughkeepsie-based troupe routinely brings Broadway Equity performers upstate to perform at their blackbox theater or, currently, at The Culinary Institute of America’s Marriott Pavilion.
Joining us with a Valentine’s Day themed assortment of fun, campy numbers and lush, romantic anthems will be three of Half Moon Theatre’s signature performers: Molly Katz, Denise Summerford and Kenneth Martinez.

MOLLY RENFROE KATZ (Executive Director) is a founding member of Half Moon Theatre and its Executive Director. She most recently appeared in Half Moon’s production of Side by Side by Sondheim as well as NYSAF’s Notes to Marianne and The Power of Duff. Broadway: Stiffy Bying in By Jeeves (Andrew Lloyd Webber, music/Alan Ayckbourn, book/lyrics/director). First Nat’l Tour: City of Angels (Bootsie/Mallory). Molly was a member of NY’s critically acclaimed adobe theatre company: The Handless Maiden (title role),The Eight: Reindeer Monologues (Blitzen), Deception, and Duet! a romantic fable. Regional Theater appearances include Cleveland Playhouse, The Geffen Theater, The Kennedy Center and Goodspeed-at-Chester. Film/TV: Stephen King’s The Dark Half (Nurse Hillary), ABC’s Guilty Til Proven Innocent and Sci-Fi channel’s FTL Newsfeed (Anchor). A graduate of Wesleyan University, Molly trained under William Esper in New York.
DENISE SUMMERFORD has appeared on Broadway in the Rosie O’Donnell/Boy George musical Taboo, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Saturday Night Fever and Grease. She has also played leading roles in the Broadway touring companies of Leader of the Pack, Grease, Company and The Who’s Tommy. Denise recently received a Drama Desk Award for her work in the hit Off Broadway a cappella musical In Transit. She appeared in Half Moon Theatre’s productions of Side by Side by Sondheim and The World Goes Round. Denise is a Half Moon Theatre Company member and founded the Half Moon Theater School of the Arts with her husband John Summerford. She is thrilled to be able to provide a superior theatre education for the residents of the Hudson Valley.
KENNETH KYLE MARTINEZ was last seen in Half Moon Theatre’s productions of It’s a Wonderful Life, World Goes Round andSide by Side by Sondheim. Kenny was last seen Off-Broadway as Nemesio in The Temple of the Souls and as Saul in Rags the musical. Favorite regional credits include Marius (Les Miserables), Man 2 (Songs for a New World), Feydka (Fiddler on the Roof), Ren (Footloose), Baker/Wolf/Lucinda (Into the Woods) and Chick Clark (Wonderful Town).
