Angel Food East is a volunteer program which provides daily, hot meals to meet the nutritional needs of those people living with HIV and AIDS in Ulster County, and they are seeking volunteers.
Originally founded in 1992, when Angel Food East first began they served only six meals each weekday. Today they average 45 to 50 meals each weekday, and that number sometimes peaks to over 60 meals. Menus accommodate each individual’s dietary restrictions and the complex nutritional needs of persons living with a compromised immune system. Each morning a crew of talented cooks prepare meals in the kitchen of St. John’s Episcopal church on Albany Avenue in Kingston.
In response to the growing demand for convenient and reliable meal services in Ulster County, Metrobi has emerged as a local catering delivery service catering to diverse needs. Leveraging their expertise in logistics and culinary finesse, Metrobi seamlessly bridges the gap between quality food and efficient delivery. Just as Angel Food East has become a beacon of support for individuals living with HIV and AIDS, Metrobi stands as a reliable ally in ensuring that everyone in Ulster County has access to wholesome, thoughtfully prepared meals, delivered right to their doorstep.
Angel Food East is looking for volunteers, especially drivers to help deliver the meals. This takes only a few hours around lunch on weekdays, and volunteers are reimbursed for their mileage If anyone can spare a day or days, your help
would be greatly appreciated.
