Big Gay Hudson Valley is so excited to bring NYC drag legend, Paige Turner, on a regional tour of the Hudson Valley with her hit show, Joyride. All summer long, audiences in Provincetown have flocked to see this showbiz spitfire’s quick wit and campy musical parodies. As she prepares to make her Hudson Valley debut this October, get to know the hilarious “ultimate Barbie of the drag world”.
1. In addition to performing live in shows like “Joyride”, Turner performs parodies on YouTube. One of her greatest hits, The Grindr Connection – a parody of the Muppet’s Rainbow Connection – won a Glam Award for Best Music Video.
2. Paige Turner is a triple threat: She’s a drag queen, comedian, and singer. Living up to her reputation as a “Showbiz Spitfire”, all of the songs presented in Joyride are sung LIVE.
3. She’s also a TV star, having appearing alongside Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live on Bravo over 10 times playing characters including Mary Poppins for the one and only Julie Andrews.
4. Wondering where she gets her wit from? Paige Turner is the self-proclaimed illegitimate love child of Pee-wee Herman and Barbie. She’s bubblegum sweet on the outside; quirky, irreverent and goofy as hell on the inside.
5. Paige Turner is one of the original creators, producers, and host of So You Think You Can Drag at New World Stages in Midtown Manhattan. Billed as NYC’s live drag reality show, the series ran through 2017 and included celebrity judges Adam Lambert, Charles Busch, Zach Booth, and Jackie Hoffman.
6. This summer Paige performed more than 50 live shows at the Pilgrim House in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Her Hudson Valley tour will mark shows 53, 54 and 55!
7. Turner coined the catch-phrase “Slurp!” which went on to become the name of her drag show and holds the record for longest running drag show in NYC history. It’s also her term for cute sexy thangs, so expect to hear it frequently during her show and be flattered when she ‘Slurps” you.
