Big Gay Hudson Valley and the Walkway Over the Hudson will once again kick off LGBTQ+ Pride season in the Hudson Valley with Pride in the Sky 2025 on Sunday May 18, 2025.

The all ages + dog-friendly festival is FREE to attend, so make a plan to spend the day with our local LGBTQ+ community at the stunning Walkway Over the Hudson.

Getting to the Walkway

The Walkway Over the Hudson is accessible lots of different ways from both its Poughkeepsie (east) and Highland (west) sides. The main entrances to the Walkway Over the Hudson are located at:

🚗 ARRIVING BY CAR

For large events like Pride in the Sky, parking can be a bit tricky, so read up on parking on the Walkway’s website for more information and carpool as much as possible.

PARKING is available on both sides of the Walkway.

  • On the Highland side, all parking along Haviland Road and in the Trolley Lot is now FREE courtesy of Big Gay Hudson Valley.
  • On the Poughkeepsie side, you are encouraged to park for FREE at the Redl Building – 80 Washington Street, Poughkeepsie, New York 12601 – which is a short 3 block walk from the Walkway’s access stairs next to Lola’s. Additional FREE parking is also available at Pulaski Park and along Brookside Drive.

🚂 TAKE THE TRAIN

MetroNorth’s Poughkeepsie train station is a ~10 minute walk to the Walkway’s elevator, accessible from Upper Landing Park along the Hudson River waterfront. If you’re joining us from New York City or anywhere along the MetroNorth corridor, hop on board and take the train directly to Pride in the Sky.

🚲 BIKE OR WALK

The Rail Trail pathways leading up to both sides of the Walkway will be open for anyone who wants to walk or ride their bike to the festival.

Plenty to Eat + Drink

🍻 The Poughkeepsie (east) Pavillion will host a bar from City Winery Hudson Valley while Bad Seed Hard Cider sets up at the Highland (west) Pavillion. With both bars positioned right at the entrance gates to the Walkway, the views and vibes are sure to be spectacular, just remember that all beverages must be enjoyed within the Pavillion by those who are 21+.

🍔 Prepared food will also be available from vendors on both sides of the Walkway including From The Ground Up Food Truck, Hole in the Wall Donuts, Little Loaf Bakeshop, and others.

Guests are also welcome to bring their own food to enjoy during the event.

“Glow” with Pride

When the sun goes down make the evening sky glow with Pride by strutting your stuff on the Walkway in your best illuminated look. Don’t forget the dogs, too – an illuminated leash and/or collar on your pet will keep them visible and stylish in the evening dusk.

Be sure to dress for the weather – remember that the temperature can drop quickly once the sun sets and that it tends to be breezier up on the Walkway. Plan for some layers so that you can comfortably enjoy the entire evening out.

A Full Day of Events

While the Pride in the Sky festival officially runs from 3p – 9p, there’s a full day of happenings on the Walkway that’ll let you show your Pride from sunrise to sunset:

10a – Pride Fun Run/Walk – Start your day off with a rainbow-hued fun run/walk over the Walkway, stepping off from the Highland (west) side of the bridge.

2p – Drag Story Hour with Katarina Mirage – Grab a seat and set off on a fabulous adventure with story time under the pavilion on the Highland (west) side.

4:30p – Proud Pet Pawrade – Our friends at Poughkeepsie’s Central Bark encourage all pet owners to bring their furry loved ones for a special pawrade on the Walkway; Prizes will be awarded for the best looks!
