Big Gay Hudson Valley is thrilled to bring our good friend Chris Harder and his all-new play – Porn To Be A Star – to the Rosendale Theatre on Saturday night, June 9th at 9:30pm. A one man show about this North Dakota boy’s hilarious and heartfelt search for fame, followers and a place to shine, Porn To Be A Star is a truly unique autobiographical production in this day and age where adult film stars like Stormy Daniels have become household names.
Written by Harder himself (yes that’s his real name) and produced by David Drake, Chris characterizes close to a dozen different real people, all of whom have contributed to his life, his career and his ventures into gay adult film in a number of ways. One of those is even his mother (and in our opinion his monologue about his coming out to his mom as a porn star alone is worth the cost of admission).
If Chris Harder looks familiar, it’s because this will be the eighth time that he has appeared on stage at a BGHV event. He’s been featured in all five seasons of our annual holiday burlesque spectacular, HUNG With Care, and in 2015 his hilarious original play, Nasty Drew & That Harder Boy, staged productions in Poughkeepsie, Rosendale and Hudson.
Unlike many performers in the gay adult film world, Chris Harder is a pink card-carrying, rainbow flag waving, proud homosexual – so rest-assured friends, he’s not gay for pay.
Featuring elements of live theatre, burlesque, and clips from Chris Harder’s various on-screen performances, Porn To Be A Star is an adult show with adult themes and attendees must be 18+ years of age to enjoy. With a running time of about 90 minutes, Porn To Be A Star is funny, full of great stories and jam-packed with a whirlwind of costume changes. We laughed. We cried. And we loved it enough to bring it to the fabulous Rosedale Theatre on Saturday night, June 9 at 9:30pm.
Thank you to our friends at Hamilton & Adams, Third Eye Associates, Security Heating & Plumbing Supply, Superior Sounds, BMW of the Hudson Valley and Chronogram for helping us to make this production possible and supporting live queer performance art right here in the Hudson Valley.
Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door.
