For owners, Libby Faison and Nanci Pate, their grand-dog Bullet (pit bull)and cat Samantha (a calico cat), the Beacon Barkery is a ‘live your passion’ career. According to both Libby and Nanci, their dream to open a high quality dog bakery and specialty store for dogs and cats has been a labor of love. Important to both is a high quality, unique product line that is competitively priced for all. Equally important is the opportunity to help support many local rescue and animal aid organizations through fund raising and donations raised both in the store and through community fund raising events.
Opened in August 2006, the Beacon Barkery was established in Beacon, New York in the heart of the Hudson Valley. The ‘Barkery’ achieved the honor of winning the “Best of the Hudson Valley” award for “Best Pet Bakery” in 2007, and ‘Best Pet Event’ in 2008. It continues to be the unique place to find the coolest gourmet cookies and treats in the Hudson Valley. Favorite treats include “Cannolis”, “Peanut Butter Puppies”, and “Tail Bangers” for dogs and “Bonita Flakes” and seafood treats for cats. All treats are prepared with all natural human grade ingredients, no sugar, chocolate or unsafe additives. Although most bakery items are not baked on premises, we hold to the highest of standards in the selection of all treats contained in the store.
The future plans include the continued collaboration with local rescue organizations, an on-line store, collaboration with local professional groomers to offer services at the store, Yappie Hours, Special events during holiday times, and setting up classes to teach pet owners how to massage their pets.
