Join Big Gay Hudson Valley and our friends at the Hudson Valley Seed Co. for a queer upstate day filled with Pansies and Punchlines on Saturday, April 11th.

Start your Saturday with a very special curated discussion about the history of the pansy and their place in our queer history as led by Ken Greene, the co-founder of the Hudson Valley Seed Co. Located on the picturesque former airport runway in Accord, NY their Seed Store, Gallery and Greenhouses provide the perfect place to shop, learn and explore as you prepare your garden for Spring.

After the talk (and a little greenhouse browsing) you can spend the afternoon exploring the city of Kingston and its myriad adorable shops and cafes before heading over to the Rosendale Theatre for a night of laughs featuring some of the nation’s best and brightest LGBTQ+ comics at the Gay Gasp.

This year’s show is the third annual installment of our Queer Comedy Showcase and we’re proud to feature headliners Sheria Mattis, Jeremy Crittenden, and Sureni Weerasekera with the Hudson Valley’s very-own Alejandro Morales serving as emcee.

If you’ve not yet been to the Rosendale Theatre, this is your chance to step back in time at this vintage one-screen movie theater and performance space. The theater has lived many lives from serving as the town’s casino and brothel back in the days of coal mining – and today it now serves as a destination for one of a kind performances and events, art films, and so much more.

Pansy Pack Show Gallery Talk

Featuring the work of Paul Harfleet’s Pansy Project, plus work by Olly Costello, K Greene and Jacinta Bunnell, this exhibition traces the pansy’s journey from symbol of thoughtful affection to slur to reclaimed emblem of queer resilience.
