Special Edition Beacon LitFest Features Writer Lucy Sante
The Beacon LitFest will host award-winning writer Lucy Sante author of I Heard Her Call My Name: a memoir of transition, at a Special Edition event on June 20. The memoir, 0ne of Lit Hub’s Most Anticipated Books of 2024, explores Sante’s lifetime struggles with gender identity and her choice to transition in her mid-60s. The book has been called “a marvel of grace and empathy (that) explores with great sensitivity the issues of gender identity, of family, of art, of revolution, and far beyond—.” Lucy is also an accomplished visual artist, and has recently been exploring the creative use of digital media. Some of her pieces will be showcased at the program. The event also introduces artist, actor and activist Richard Eagan, founder of the Coney Island Hysterical Society.
