The Vagina Monologues
First performed by Eve Ensler in 1996 at HERE Arts Center, The Vagina Monologues has been performed countless times, in multiple languages and many countries. Its lasting power as an ever-adapting collection of essays is second only to its ability to provoke conversation around the constantly shifting perspective of the feminine.
About the director:
Patricia Charbonneau’s training began with Fred Karamen from the acclaimed Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City, as well as with Winn Handman of the American Place Theater. She owes her film debut to Donna Deitch for directing her in the ground breaking film, Desert Hearts, for which she was nominated for The Independent Spirit Award for her portrayal of Cay Rivers.
Ms. Charbonneau went on to work in over thirty films and television series, working with Oscar winning directors William Friedkin and Michael Mann, and performing with William Peterson, Stanley Tucci, Julie Andrews, Sam Waterston, Diane Weist, and James Garner.
Ms. Charbonneau honed her craft performing in classics as well as new American plays in New York, Los Angeles Europe and Australia. She has been passionate about introducing theater to children and young adults, teaching workshops, and directing fundraisers for local art and community foundations in the Northern Catskills. She is very excited to be working with The Maude Adams Theater Hub and looks forward to many productions together!
