The CENTER is pleased to announce auditions for Newsies, JR. in partnership with Music Theatre International and Disney Theatrical Group.
Newsies JR. is based on the 1992 motion picture and the hit Broadway musical and features a score by eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin,) and Jack Feldman and a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Newsies JR. is the story of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of newsies, who dreams of a better life far from the hardship of the streets.
Directed and choreographed by Kevin Archambault with music direction by Cheryl B. Engelhardt.
This workshop experience will incoporate specialized instruction and culminate in a fully realized production. Participation includes an instructional fee (to be determined) and is by audition only.
Location: The Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck
Seeking: Young actors, singers and dancers, ages 8 – 18 for all roles.
Performance Dates: May 5 & 6, 2018
Prepare: 32 bars of a song from the show or in the style of the show. Bring your sheet music in the correct key for our pianist – no a cappella accepted.
Bring: Please bring your personal schedule and be prepared to list your conflicts
