Varla Jean Merman, Michael Cunio, Chris Harder, and Meghan Murphy to Headline Five Performances in 2018

April 4, 2018 – HUDSON VALLEY, NY – Big Gay Hudson Valley (BGHV), the region’s leading resource for LGBTQ Tourism in New York State, is proud to announce an entire season of new and returning events scheduled at the Rosendale Theatre for 2018. BGHV’s last event in Rosendale featuring Hedda Lettuce in December of 2017 completely sold out the 260 seat theater and these five newly-announced events are expected to do the same.

“We first began working with Big Gay Hudson Valley in 2016,” explains Ann Citron, Executive Director of the Rosendale Theatre. “They have been an incredible partner and we are so excited about how their live productions have brought hundreds of first-time visitors to the Rosendale Theatre. It’s been a huge boost to our business and our neighbors here on Main Street.”

The season begins on Saturday, May 5th when Varla Jean Merman returns to the Rosendale Theatre with an all new show – Wonder Merman. Accompanied on the piano by Gerald Goode, Varla’s new show pays tribute to the inspiring women who have inspired her to think about becoming inspirational.

On Saturday, June 9th Chris Harder returns to the Rosendale Theatre for the third time with his new play, Porn To Be A Star. Happening as part of Hudson Valley Pride Week, the play swirls Harder’s personal experiences in burlesque, adult filmmaking and nightlife together into a hilarious and heartfelt original production that bites and surprises in all the right places.

Saturday, September 29th BGHV will present Cunio Sings Etta. Featuring the Brooklyn-based queer rocker, Michael Cunio, he and a live five piece band will perform the greatest hits from Etta James’ song book while revisiting the history behind this blues and jazz legend.

To celebrate the holidays, the 6th annual performance of HUNG With Care, BGHV’s annual holiday burlesque spectacular, will happen over Thanksgiving weekend on Saturday, November 24th. Three weeks later, Big Red & The Boys, a live show celebrating the joy of the spending the holidays with your chosen family, will make its Hudson Valley debut on Saturday, December 15th.

Big Gay Hudson Valley could not make these shows happen without the support of amazing sponsors like Security Plumbing & Heating Supply, ExitNineteen, Hamilton & Adams and Chronogram in Kingston, Third Eye Associates, Ltd in Red Hook, BMW of the Hudson Valley in Poughkeepsie and the Hudson Trailer Company.

The Rosendale Theatre is located at 408 Main Street in downtown Rosendale, NY. Tickets for Wonder Merman, Porn To Be Star, and Cunio Sings Etta range from $25 to $35 and are on sale now at BigGayHudsonValley.com. Purchase your tickets in advance and save on at-the-door ticket prices.
