Pride-Along-the-Hudson-2015-for-BGHV

Every June, the LGBT community and our allies gather across the country to celebrate just how fabulous it is being fabulous – and the Hudson Valley is no exception. This year you can follow the rainbow brick road of festivals up & down the river and experience all that our region has to offer.

Hudson Valley Pride: June 2nd – June 7th

Presented by the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center, this week’s worth of activities is packed with a Family Pride Day, Open Mic Night, Teen Dance and a Saturday night Pride Party. The year’s capstone Pride March & Festival returns to its cozy home in the village of New Paltz on Sunday June 7th. Get the full lineup of events and more information about registering for each one.

Queen City Pride Weekend: June 12th – 14th

Big Gay Hudson Valley’s 7th annual celebration features a weekend full of events spread throughout Poughkeepsie – the “Queen City of the Hudson”. Kick the weekend off with a Pink-eepsie BBQ Bash on the Plaza at the Poughkeepsie Journal Building on Friday night. Dance the night away on Saturday to three different DJs and a rotating cast of go-go dancers, burlesque performers and more at the Half Moon Black + White Ball, hosted by Isis Vermouth in the historic Chance Theater. Sunday’s summer classic Queen City Pride Community Picnic – a BYO picnic held in the gardens of the historic Locust Grove Estate – will be back with live music, drag bingo, community groups and much more. Check out our blog for more info.

Gay Pride Rockland: June 12th – June 14th

Presented by Volunteer Counseling Services (VCS), this annual weekend festival is returning to downtown Nyack with live music on Friday and an outdoor pop-up projection on Saturday. Sunday’s “Rockland County Pride Sunday” is free to attend and will feature family-friendly activites, food, vendors, public art, and more. Visit Gay Pride Rockland’s website for more information.

Capital District Pride: June 13th

The Pride Center of the Capital Region is celebrating their 45th anniversary this year! Their annual Pride parade, led by Grand Marshal Calpernia Addams, will work its way through downtown Albany towards a festival in Washington Park. Their 2014 festival welcomed 30,000 attendees and featured a surprise performance by Melissa Etheridge, so just imagine what they’ve got in store for this year!
