DESCRIPTION:Portraits of Pine Plains is a collection of oil-based portrait paintings representing different generations, perspectives, and experiences in the quiet town of Pine Plains with an emphasis on individuality, personal style, and modernism.  On Saturday, May 18 from 4 – 6 PM, Pine Plains’ own Gallery & Goods celebrates the illustrious collection with an opening reception.  This event is free and open to art lovers of all ages. For more information, visit www.galleryandgoods.comor call (845) 635-0422.\nMary Bridgman is a visual artist working and living in Pine Plains, NY and New York City.  Well known for her Sporting Art paintings, Mary has exhibited in New York City, The Hudson Valley, Florida, Kentucky, Colorado and is featured in numerous private collections.  Having studied portraiture at the Art Students League, as well as working as a fashion designer for many years, Mary was inspired to combine her two passions to begin to tell a story of humans.\nPortraits of Pine Plains aims to challenge the conventional framework of what a modern art gallery can be by humanizing the contemporary subjects appearing on the canvases and beginning to tell the stories of our community. Fourteen portraits complete the collection, capturing the spirit and essence of the diverse Pine Plains residents. Each painting tells the story of the town and its people; ones who have lived in Pine Plains all their lives and those relatively new to the area. Mary believes the subjects in her paintings, in their own ways, are town royalty with backdrops inspired by life in the local landscape and history. The individual portraits reflect through the observer’s eyes and imagination to retell the story of each subject.\nGallery & Goods in Pine Plains, NY is an evolving collection celebrating the work of artists and local makers, presented inside a restored community hall built in 1838. Hours: Friday from 1 pm to 5 pm, Saturday 10 am to 5 pm, Sunday 10 am to 2 pm.\n
